TheCoTeam Runs on EOS®
Why TheCoTeam Runs on the EOS® Model
TheCoTeam isn’t an EOS® implementor, but we love the system so much, we use it ourselves! The EOS Model® is great for building accountability, solving problems, getting everyone on the same page. Here are some key components from the People Slice of the EOS Model® that can help with hiring, developing, and retaining your employees.
The EOS Model® by EOS Worldwide
Hiring is more than just filling seats. The person you hire for any given role is expected to fulfill the same responsibilities every day. If they aren’t qualified, aren’t a good fit for the role, or a fit for your company then you’ll likely begin to run into headaches.
The right person fits your core values, communicates well, and fits in with the team. This is a great time to try out the “lunch table exercise.” (Ask us more!)
The Right Person
Define the seat on the accountability chart (you may know it as the Organizational Chart™) with top functions that only happen in this seat. Once we do this we ask the individual if they GWC™ – Get it, Want it, Have the Capacity.
Be practical: Ask the candidate, Ask the team. Just because the person thinks they are the right fit doesn’t mean the team agrees.
The Right Seat
Warning signs they aren’t the right person:
Lack of hungry, humble,
and smart
Not a fit at the
lunch table
Poor
communication
Red Flag: People often overlook these things in favor of technical skills and hire the wrong people. If they are not the right person, there is no right seat – they must exit the bus.
Warning signs it isn’t the right seat:
Do they get it
(Understand it)
Want it
(Desire the seat)
Capacity
(Have the time)
Pro Tip: Trouble begins when your candidate doesn’t get it, want it, or have capacity but you hired them anyway. If you don’t have a seat for them, exit them from the bus.
When it’s Time to Call TheCoTeam
You may have employees on your team that aren’t the right person. They should be coached up or coached out. If you can’t coach or teach them, it’s time to call TheCoTeam.
Remember GWC™:
Get it - If they cant be trained call us
Want it - If they don’t want it call us
Capacity - As companies scale people become overburdened and it’s time to call TheCoTeam
If these are sounding familiar, the time is now before it becomes a critical issue.
Two other areas on the wheel can help with your vision for planning ahead. If your 90 day Rock shows a growth curve it’s time to look down the road to make adjustments. How many people do you need to plan for? It’s important to be proactive so you aren’t finding yourself reacting to a staffing issue.
